Sub base for permeable paving or asphalt

Our Type 3 Limestone is a primary quarried aggregate that meets the Department of Transport’s Specification for Highway Works, clause 805 (SHW 805).

It is an open-graded sub-base with a lower content of fines (dust) than Type 1 Limestone, allowing for better drainage, and is often used in conjunction with sustainable urban drainage system stone as a sub-base for permeable paving or asphalt.

This coarser grain structure is specifically engineered to achieve maximum permeability, allowing surface water to drain freely through the material rather than pooling on top. Even with its open, free-draining layout, this limestone retains high load-bearing and compactable qualities, making it a reliable solution for heavy-use infrastructure that must remain fully porous.
