TJ provides swift response to emergency incident

TJ Transport assisted an overturned lorry after Boarhunt Garage – a company we work in close partnership with – asked for our assistance following the incident last week.

Boarhunt were called to the site after a lorry overturned, spilling its load. After assessing the incident, Boarhunt got in touch with us to see if we could help.

We were more than happy to assist and immediately deployed a grab lorry to the site. Our driver arrived within half an hour of the initial call and immediately got to work clearing up the spillage.

Fleet Team Leader Jenny Spratt said: “At around 3pm, we received a call asking for a second grab as the lorry was still too heavy to lift, so I diverted a second driver straight around to assist.”

A total of 9.68 tonnes of plasterboard was recovered from the site and taken to our Materials Recovery Facility in Portsmouth for onward disposal.

We have four Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) dotted along the south coast at Southampton, Portsmouth and Yapton. These facilities provide a third-party tipping service for local businesses, who are permitted to tip waste, chargeable per tonne. We sort and segregate all the waste we receive, with as much as possible being repurposed or recycled.

At TJ, we’re passionate about diverting waste from landfill and endeavour to recycle up to 100% of the waste we handle. In 2022, we processed over 115,000 tonnes of waste through our MRFs!!

Our fleet of 8-wheel grab lorries can transport up to 16 tonnes of material in one go and are ideal for a variety of waste streams including builders waste, inert soil, concrete, bricks, asphalt and green waste. Health and safety is a top priority for us. Our fleet is accredited by the TfL Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme and boasts advanced safety systems such as audible left turning warning and 360 degree camera systems.
