Meet Maisy Bowles, Sales & Operations Assistant

Maisy joined TJ Transport in August and has enjoyed liaising with the customers as well as getting to know the team. In her spare time, Maisy moonlights as a personal trainer and is great at ensuring her clients stay in shape!

WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE INVOLVE?

Mine is a ‘behind the scenes’ role and includes tasks such as placing orders, making sure references are in place, liaising with customers and dealing with pricing enquiries via the phone and email – all the admin tasks in short. I spend quite a lot of time dealing with tasks relating to our subcontract hauliers too. I’ve built up quite a lot of knowledge since joining, although I’m still learning new things everyday!

WHAT SUPPORT HAS TJ PROVIDED SINCE YOU JOINED?

Myself and my colleague Sam Rees work as a team; she trained me up and still provides assistance to me as and when I need it. Everyone in the team has provided support and given me guidance on a range of things, which I’ve greatly appreciated. If I ever have a question or issue I know I can ask anyone and they’ll be happy to help.

WHAT’S YOUR CAREER BACKGROUND?

I’ve always worked in customer service roles – in a supermarket, at a local college within the gym and on the lettings side, and then I landed the role here. I’m a very people-oriented person, so I like working in customer-facing roles and providing a good service each and every time so that the customer has a positive experience and goes away happy.

WHAT ARE THE MOST INTERESTING PARTS OF YOUR ROLE?

I love the fact that it’s so varied. Every task I do is so different – no two days are ever the same! It keeps you on your toes and you don’t ever switch off, which is great as it keeps things interesting. I’m still learning and I love dealing with customers as I get to speak to so many interesting people.

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF YOUR ROLE?

My geographical knowledge definitely needs work! When customers call and tell me where they are – and they can be anywhere in the southern region – I find it challenging to immediately know where the area or town is, so this is something that I’d like to improve on. When providing quotes, the customer’s location is a factor in the pricing so knowing instantly exactly where they’re located will make it easier for me to provide super-quick quotes. I’m building up my knowledge all the time and I’m keen to continue learning!

WHAT ARE YOUR AIMS FOR 2023?

Firstly, to improve my geographical knowledge, and secondly, to continue learning more about TJ as a company and building up my product knowledge so that the service I’m providing will be even better.

WHY IS TJ A GREAT PLACE TO WORK?

All the people are nice and really helpful too! You can ask anyone anything and if they don’t know the answer, they’ll find out for you. TJ really cares about their employees; when I joined they asked what skills I’d like to develop and they listened, facilitated my wishes and made it happen.
